The 2020 IEEE PES China General Meeting was held in Shanghai on May 15, 2021. In recognition of Professor Xiaoqing Han's outstanding contributions to student development and innovation in teaching methods, the important technical contributions in the field of power and energy, and the outstanding contributions in supporting the development of the IEEE PES Society in China, the IEEE PES China Awards Committee presented Professor Xiaoqing Han with the IEEE PCCC Distinguished Educator Award.
IEEE PES China held the 1stgeneral meeting in October 2017, aiming to build a bridge between China's electrical and energy fields to the world and to build a larger platform for international exchange and cooperation. The first general meeting is a good start for Chinese scholars in the field of electrical and energy to form and lead the technical committee of the international academic organization, which is an epoch-making milestone. In this general meeting, the Annual Award was awarded to Chinese scholars for the first time. Six individual and group awards were presented, including the Distinguished Educator, the Distinguished Engineer, the Outstanding Young Engineer, the Outstanding Women Engineer, the Outstanding Volunteer, and the Best Chapter.
Xiaoqing Han is currently a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of Collage of Electrical Engineering with the Taiyuan University of Technology. She has served as the Dean of the College of Electrical and Power Engineering of Taiyuan University of Technology since 2016 and has been established as an associated senior expert of the Shanxi Provincial Department of Education. She is also the chairman of the Taiyuan branch of IEEE PES Society, the chairman of Shanxi Electrotechnical Society, the vice chairman of Shanxi Electrical Engineering Society, the director of Shanxi Key Laboratory of "Power System Operation and Control", and the director of Shanxi Key Laboratory of "Smart Grid". She has also led the Shanxi Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Key Team on "Control and Smart Grid for Wind and Power Generation".
Prof. Han Xiaoqing has been teaching at the university since her graduation, and has been engaged in teaching and scientific research in the field of power system operation and control, new energy and microgrid operation for more than 35 years, and has trained more than 3,000 undergraduates and 200 master and doctoral students. She has also been honored as a famous teaching teacher in Shanxi Province, a model teacher in Shanxi Province, a model worker in Shanxi Province, and so on. In the thirty years of teaching power system analysis courses, Prof. Han Xiaoqing has deeply appreciated the opportunities and challenges brought by the development of science and technology to teaching, and over the years, she has continuously innovated and reformed in her educational career, achieving remarkable results. Prof. Xiaoqing Han is the director of IEEE PES Smart Grid and New Technologies Committee (China) - Smart Grid and Artificial Intelligence Sub-Committee, and organized and established IEEE PES Taiyuan Branch as the chairman in 2018. Since the establishment of the branch, it has always taken the mission of encouraging technological innovation for the benefit of mankind, actively promoting technological innovation and services, and increasing the influence of the IEEE PES Society in the Shanxi region.
